Access for All: Implementing Fundamental Elements of Accessibility
Funded by the NC Governor's Crime Commission
This grant is designed to promote statewide implementation of the ten Fundamental Elements of Accessibility (FEA) to improve the accessibility of domestic violence and sexual assault services. The FEA address communication, information, the built environment, staff training and policies. This project will offer DV and SA agencies strategies and resources to promote implementation of each FEA. Grant activities include regional trainings and online educational materials; technical assistance to community agencies; assessing the status of FEA implementation across the state; and recognizing all the achievements of DV/SA agencies who implement each FEA. The North Carolina Office on Disability and Health will collaborate with the NC Coalitions Against Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault and the NC Council for Women to implement all activities. All of these collaborative efforts are designed to create a statewide infrastructure of accessible DV and SA services for women with disabilities who have experienced violence.
